A bituminous coating for the in-ground section of timber to protect the timber against rot and insects

  • Used to protect the in-ground section of timber against rot and insect attack.

  • Apply to all sides of the timber that is in contact with the ground, and 50mm above ground level.

Snow

This white fence finish is designed to penetrate timber, preventing cracking and peeling. UV, termite, and mould resistant

  • A White timber finish that is penetrative in nature, designed to soak into the timber to ensure longevity. Snow fence finish is also UV, Termite and Mould resistant and has anti-cribbing agent that is safe for stock, but deters chewing of the fence.

  • Apply to all sides of external timberwork.

    Apply using a suitable brush, roller or sprayer depending on job size

Charcoal

A penetrating timber oil with a charcoal black pigment for a dark grey/black finish

  • Penetrating timber oil is used for protecting and colouring external timber, it is darker brown in colour

  • Apply to all sides of external timberwork.

Timber Oil FAQs

  • All our oils are penetrating, soaking deep into the timber to protect it from within. This allows the wood to breathe without drying out, while preventing moisture ingress and egress.

  • We use penetrating oils as opposed to paints. The main difference here is that paint becomes a skin and comes off, especially as timber has its own natural way of expanding and contracting and moisture levels will vary with the seasons.

  • This depends entirely on the applicator, the weather at the time of application, the climate that the installation has taken place and also the immediate surroundings such as sprinkler systems and whether bore or potable water is being used in those watering systems.

    As an overall and general rule, you will require 2-3 initial coats within the first 12 months (This is due to the oil penetrating into the timber, which is what it is designed to do), and then a maintenance coat every 2-4 years, again depending on the location of the fence. Regardless of brand, all oils will need maintenance coats for longevity of protection. 

  • Yes, certainly. Tarshield has been used across many applications, especially in the equine and stud market, where it can support horse fencing by deterring horses from cribbing on fence rails. It can also be suitable for rural properties using timber rails around farm entrance gates or driveway entrances.

  • Yes, absolutely, we include UV blocker additives to support this directly, along with mouldicides, termicides and stabilisers.

  • Yes, the base oils are all natural oils which form the main component of the formula, along with additives to stabilise the products for long-term outdoor use and preservation of the substrates.
