Post & rail fencing to make you proud of your property
Few things improve a property as much as post and rail fencing. It makes a statement, frames your landscape, and creates lasting value.
We make the process straightforward, from helping you choose the right fence for your property, to fast lead times, Australia-wide delivery, and guidance through the DIY process or helping you find an installer.
We use Australian timbers and precision CNC machinery to pre-mortise every post, creating clean, consistent joins where rails simply slot into place. This means your fencing arrives ready to install, with the straight lines and refined finish that define a Strukta fence.

THE TIMBER
Our timbers and pricing
Choosing the right timber for your post and rail fencing comes down to the property environment, your budget, and the desired lifespan. Years of experience have shown what timbers are best, and we want to share this with you so you can make an informed decision. All of our timber is grown in Australia and is hand-selected for quality.

FAQs
STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?
-
Yes. We deliver Australia-wide. Most Victorian deliveries are made by our friendly team with the Strukta truck. Interstate orders are delivered by a third party to your site or nearest freight depot. If you have a forklift capable of lifting over one tonne, we can usually arrange delivery direct to your site.
-
No. We focus on designing and manufacturing high-quality fencing and gates, then work alongside experienced installers to complete your project. If we have a trusted installer servicing your area, we can connect you with them. Prefer to install it yourself? Our fencing is designed as a ready-to-install system, with support from our team throughout the process.
-
Our post and rail fence kits come pre-mortised and ready for easy installation, with no fasteners required. Full installation instructions can be found here. We can also recommend fencing contractors in your area to help with installation.
-
Timber post and rail fencing is a low maintenance fencing option that ages beautifully over time. Like all timber products, occasional oiling can help maintain its appearance and protect the timber, while individual rails can be replaced if damaged.
-
Yes, on larger projects, approx. 500 metres or more. We don't offer pre-oiling on smaller orders. We recommend rough sawn timber where possible, as it absorbs oil better than dressed timber. Dressing closes the surface of the timber, so the oil doesn't penetrate as deeply and generally requires more ongoing maintenance. All posts are supplied in raw state with log end sealer applied to the tops to help reduce moisture movement and splitting. This can be stained or painted over at any time.
-
Timber and PVC fencing each have their place. PVC offers a low maintenance option with a consistent appearance, while timber provides a natural look that complements a wider range of properties and landscapes. Timber can also be repaired by replacing individual rails if damaged, rather than replacing entire sections. If you're looking for a fence with character that ages well over time, timber post and rail is the preferred choice.
-
Yes. Post and rail fencing is designed to follow the shape of your property, including curves, corners, slopes and changes in direction. The rails have some movement within the mortised posts, allowing the fence to naturally follow curves. For sharper angles or more defined changes in direction, we can create angle mortises to suit your layout.
-
The lifespan of timber post and rail fencing depends on the timber species, installation, drainage and local conditions. As a general guide, Macrocarpa can last 20+ years, White Cypress 25+ years and Australian Hardwood 40+ years. These are industry guide figures rather than guarantees, with many fences lasting even longer when installed correctly, in well-drained ground and maintained over time. We cover the characteristics and expected lifespan of each timber option in our Timber Options section above.
-
Timber is a natural product, so some movement and checking can occur over time. Rather than being a flaw, these natural characteristics are part of what gives timber its character and allows it to age beautifully. We carefully select our timber and use precision manufacturing to minimise movement, helping ensure our fences remain straight, stable and strong for many years.
-
Our standard maximum bay spacing is 2.4 metres centre to centre. This provides a strong, well-proportioned fence that keeps the rails straighter and performs better long term. You don’t need to calculate bay spacing to request a quote – just send us your fence measurements and we'll calculate the layout for you.
-
Yes. Our standard post and rail fencing is suitable for larger animals, and for smaller animals such as dogs, sheep, or chickens, we can customise the rail spacing or add wire mesh to suit. In many cases, adjusting the rail spacing can be done at no extra charge.
-
A 50% deposit is required to begin production, with the remaining 50% due upon delivery of your order.
-
Most standard orders are ready within 1 to 2 weeks of receiving your deposit. Custom products generally have a lead time of approximately 4 weeks. If you have a specific deadline, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate it.
